How we develop and review recipes

Every recipe must be useful enough to cook from and honest about where its information came from.

Before a recipe is published

  1. Identity and source: confirm the dish, record provenance and do not present another publisher’s work as our own.
  2. Completeness: require measured ingredients, units, servings, consistent prep/cook/total times and ordered steps that use the listed ingredients.
  3. Cooking clarity: include observable doneness cues where possible, plus temperatures and food-safety guidance when relevant.
  4. Use after cooking: include responsible storage, reheating and practical substitutions.
  5. Page quality: match visible details to structured data and validate links, mobile layout, keyboard use and print layout.

Review status and testing language

Editorial review checks clarity, consistency, attribution and safety; it is not the same as cooking the recipe. We use words such as “tested” only when a documented hands-on test has taken place. We do not add ratings, reviews, nutrition values, photographs or first-person anecdotes without real evidence and usage rights.

Updates and corrections

Material recipe changes receive a new review date. Corrections explain what was fixed when the change could affect the result or safety. Send a correction through the contact page with the recipe URL and affected step or measurement.
