Ingredient Replacement Finder
Choose what you need to replace, why you are replacing it and the recipe context. The finder shows substitutions with source-backed guidance; unsupported combinations stay unsupported.
Current coverage
Five ingredients, context-aware results
This first release deliberately covers a small set of common baking substitutions. It does not pretend that one swap works in every recipe.
- Dairy milk2 substitution options
- Buttermilk1 substitution option
- Whole egg2 substitution options
- Brown sugar1 substitution option
- Butter1 substitution option
Important limits
A substitution is not an allergy guarantee
For food allergies, always read the complete label for the exact product you are using. FDA guidance notes that major allergens must be declared in applicable packaged foods and that allergen cross-contact can occur. Advisory “may contain” statements are voluntary, so this tool cannot certify a packaged ingredient or finished recipe as safe for a particular person.
If a combination is not in the reviewed library, the finder returns no result instead of inventing a ratio. Baking structure can depend on eggs, dairy fat, acidity and protein in ways that a simple volume swap cannot reproduce.

King Arthur Baking supplies the substitution guidance used for the specific contexts above; FDA guidance supplies the allergen-label and cross-contact caution. These sources do not make every possible substitution equivalent.
